Equippers International originated in 1991 when it initially started as the Cliff Canipe Evangelistic Association. At the time of its inception the focus on the organization was to evangelize the lost. Over the course of the next five years, through the outreach work of Cliff Canipe, the focus of the ministry shifted from that of evangelism to teaching and equipping the church. It was at this time that the organization changed its name to Equippers International to better reflect its main focus. In 1995 Cliff Canipe met Rene Brown of Foundation Ministries International. In 1996 Cliff joined Rene and several other men in conducting an all Africa pastor's conference in Nairobi, Kenya. Through his continued association with Rene Brown, Cliff developed a deep burden to see an otherwise immature African church grow and mature in order to fulfill its destiny in God. For the last twelve years Cliff has devoted himself to teaching and equipping the African church. This ministry primarily takes place through training African pastors who in turn can teach the African church.
