Dear Friends,
Greetings to you all in the wonderful name of Jesus! We are glad to report that another month has passed and we are happier than ever in South Africa. We marvel every day at how faithful God has been to us in bringing us here and allowing us the privilege of serving Him here. There is really no way we could possibly convey to you in a short update all that we are experiencing. But we will give it our best try. I guess Miriam put it best when she was here this month. After her time with us she said, "Now I know why you are here and I can see what God is doing." So maybe all of you need to jump on a plane and spend a couple of weeks with us so you can experience first hand what is happening! Wouldn't that be great. We love each of you and you are always welcome in our home.

We had a busy month in addition to Miriam's visit which included Cliff teaching at the Transform Youth Conference in Hermanus. We had a full Easter weekend that we spent with special friends. The fellowship was great and we had lots of fun. We are also involved in personal ministry in our home almost daily and sometimes several times a day as people come by, many times unannounced!

At the end of March, we began to sense that God was showing us more specifically what He is doing in Worcester. As we have prayed and talked to many people, we are keenly aware that God is really doing an exciting work in the body of Christ in this city. There are many people who are hungry for God to establish the church in this city. We believe that this means bringing the body of Christ together in unity of faith and purpose in the city. God wants to break through religious, denominational, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic sectarianism. The city has a long history of division and strife in the body, and we know that God wants to establish the body here on a foundation of unity and love. It is so powerful to see God's hand working to bring this transformation about. We have met many people with a similar vision who have been praying for this type of work to happen in the body for years. Please pray with us that the full purposes of God will be accomplished and that the hearts of the people in the church in Worcester will embrace what the Spirit of the Lord is doing in this season. Also pray especially that the hearts of leaders in the city will be humble and open to the Lord and each other and they will rightly discern the Body.

Cliff has started working more closely with the elders at Last Days Family Fellowship. The elders there are Jerry Jack, Johnny Willemse, and Hanzel Apollos. We have known and worked with these brothers for many years. They are wonderful men full of the Spirit. They are open to all that God is doing in the church in Worcester and are really trusting that God will use the fellowship that they presently oversee in a pioneering way to be a testimony to the rest of the church in Worcester. In a true sense, we are praying that this group of believers can be a prophetic statement to the church in Worcester of how God wants the body to function in the city. We are believing that this will cause an excitement in the church and a hunger in the hearts of people across the city. Jerry and several ministers have been meeting on a regular basis for a couple of years. They recently went for a day retreat to fellowship and pray. After their time together they believe the Lord is leading them to begin to pray together once a week. This is some of what God is doing here in Worcester.

Cliff is also building a strong relationship with Jan Slabbert in Wellington. They have been friends for about five years. They are believing God for a similar work in Wellington. Please join them as well in praying for the church in Wellington. There is very little recognition among the spiritual leaders in Wellington of one another. In essence, there is very little discerning of the body there (1 Cor.11:29). This is a great burden for us and we pray that God will break through this mind set and move the church on in unity and purpose in that city as well. We also believe that God is going to use our relationship with Jan and Wendy in a broader sense to strengthen the body in South Africa and other African nations.

We are looking forward to receiving Rodney and Trina Kirkpatrick in July. They will also be bringing along Bridgette, their six year old daughter, as well as Della. Della is a close friend and God has spoken clearly that she should accompany Rodney and Trina to be involved in ministry here. They will be with us for 3-4 weeks. Cliff and Rodney will be traveling into Zimbabwe to conduct meetings with leaders from several surrounding countries. Cliff and Rodney will be ministering mostly in homes throughout Worcester and in the First Love Church of Wellington during their time in South Africa. (Consult the Schedule section of our web site for their itinerary.)

Stephanie is praying about an invitation to join the ministry at the Kibbutz El-Shammah. They are focusing on their social work outreach into the Roodewal community and Stephanie has been asked to help develop this outreach to the street kids and their families. This falls right in line with Stephanie's background and is a great opportunity to learn a lot and gain experience in the field of social work as a ministry. She is going to team meetings once a week and is just praying to know God's will about her level of involvement right now.

As you can see, God is beginning to show us more clearly His plan for us being here in South Africa. We are trusting Him daily to show us every step along the way. We are more convinced than ever before that while we can make our own plans, it is the Lord that directs our steps. So we are praying, trusting and waiting on God to direct us each step of the way. He is so faithful!

Thank you all for your love and support. It is a joy to know that together we can touch the world and strengthen the church.

May God richly bless you all today.

Cliff, Stephanie, Camille, Natalie, and Wesley

Ministry Highlight

Miriam Todd, Cliff's mom, had three wonderful weeks of fellowship and ministry in Worcester this month. Miriam's trip to Africa was the fulfillment of a word from the Lord 52 years ago. According to Miriam, it was worth the wait. God used Miriam powerfully to minister to the church in Worcester. She led a women's conference, spoke in three high schools to over 3,500 students, taught at the Kibbutz about "at risk" children and enjoyed meeting many new friends. She also had some free time to see some of the beautiful sights of South Africa. We were so blessed to be able to have Miriam. The kids loved having "Mimi" here and we were honored to share her with the body of Christ in South Africa.

The students sat quietly as Miriam shared with them the importance of having a dream from the Lord. You can still share Jesus openly in the public schools in South Africa!

Family Corner

We went as a family to Ceres for 3 days to fellowship, encourage and support friends in their ministry to the farm workers there. Cliff preached in their fellowship as well. It was so refreshing to rest for a few days on the farm. We stayed in Anton and Charlotte Nell's home and had a very Afrikaans cultural experience with regular tea times out on the lawn and a south african stew cooked in a pot over the fire. While we were there we realized that God is answering our prayers for Wesley to start talking, but he's learning to speak Afrikaans so we can't understand him. He has been saying "myne" (sounds like "may-nuh") for a couple of weeks but we didn't know it was a real word. We laughed when Charlotte told us he's saying "Mine!" when he's trying to take something away from his sisters. We just didn't know what he was saying. So he's learning a lot at preschool after all!

The kids had an easter bonnet parade at school. This is Natalie and her friend Jacqueline who spent the night the day school let out for Easter holiday.

Prayer Requests

1. Pray for continued wisdom in relationships. God is leading us into many relationships and we need wisdom to know where to spend our time most effectively.

2. Pray for the Last Days Family church and the elders there as we work with them closely to bring about the changes that the Lord is showing us need to come.

3. Pray for the ministry to other countries in Africa. We need wisdom and direction to know where the Lord wants us to be involved and when we should be going.

4. Pray for the transition for our family as Jennifer David returns to the states. She has become very special to us and we will miss her greatly!

5. Pray for unity in the church in Worcester and the church in Wellington.
